At For The Love Of Mateo, our heart has always been to come alongside people and communities in meaningful & practical ways. Sometimes that looks like serving families thousands of miles away in Guatemala and sometimes it looks like supporting families right here in Kansas City where FTLOM is based out of.
Right now, there are two opportunities especially close to our hearts and we would love to invite you to be part of them.
Help Us Keep the Garden Growing in Guatemala 🌱
One of the projects For The Love Of Mateo is committed to supporting is a community garden in San Antonio, Guatemala.
Two hardworking gardeners care for this land six days a week, planting, tending, and harvesting fresh vegetables that are then donated throughout the community. The food grown there helps serve families in an after-school program, orphanages, hospitals, homebound individuals, and elderly members of the community.
This garden is doing so much more than simply growing food.
It is creating jobs.
It is helping two men provide for their families.
It is feeding vulnerable families and individuals.
And it is bringing hope into a community we love dearly.
For The Love Of Mateo currently pays each gardener $280 per month, which means we need $560 every month to cover their salaries.
At this time, we do not have enough monthly sponsorships coming in to fully cover that expense. We have been honored to support this garden since its beginning and would truly love to continue, but without additional monthly support, our nonprofit will not be able to carry this full expense indefinitely.
The beautiful part is that you do not have to sponsor an entire gardener to make a difference.
A recurring gift of $10, $20, $25, $50, or any amount you feel comfortable giving can help us move closer to covering these salaries each month.

Popup for a Purpose: Supporting Newhouse KC
We are also excited to bring our mission of love a little closer to home.
On Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 PM, For The Love Of Mateo will be hosting a Popup for a Purpose in Kansas City, Missouri, highlighting the incredible work of Newhouse KC.
Newhouse serves individuals and families affected by domestic abuse and provides support, resources, safety, and hope as they work toward a new beginning.
This evening will be an opportunity to learn more about Newhouse, the people they serve, and the many ways their organization is making a difference right here in our own community.
If you are in the Kansas City area, we would love to have you join us!
Because this event is being held at FTLOM's Founder & Presidents personal residence, the address will be shared directly with guests who RSVP.
